• Enda Kenny, the taoiseach of Ireland, announced that 22 May would be his preferred day for a referendum on marriage equality. In May, Ireland could become the first country in the world to pass marriage equality by a popular, national vote.

To get this far is nothing short of a phenomenal achievement. Homosexuality was only decriminalised in 1993; the Civil Partnership Act passed in 2010. But nowadays, hearts and minds has changed. So, Ireland is staging a referendum that enjoys support from all major political parties and the majority of the public, something unimaginable just a decade ago.

RESULT : Irish voted YES !

An opinion poll published in the Irish Times late last year found more than two thirds of voters would back gay marriage in a referendum.

  • Days 74 to 77:

Marlène, Nele and I are in Edinburgh, in Scotland. We stay at Auriane's flat (an ESDES student who does her Erasmus at Edinburgh). We visit a lot of famous places like the Castle, Holyrood's Palace, Carthon hill, a volcanoe called Arthur's seat... We come to the beach at Portobello, walk in the typical streets, go to pubs and restaurants. Anyway, we just enjoy the sun!

    Week 12

We speak a lot English thanks to Nele because she is German so we can't speak French between us.

We also meet some guys who live in Tallaght, Anna and some other Erasmus. It is nice to see different kind of peple there and enjoy together.

    Week 12

I like this city very much because buildings and spirits are very different and special. Even if it is beautiful and I don't regret to visit it, I think I can't live there for a long time because the main colour in the city is the grey. So I think it is very sad when it is rainning. But, it is interesting to discover and travel there.

    Week 12

    Days 78 to 81:

I am still in holidays so I just enjoy it, work, sleep, do shopping, see my friends and hang out, especially on Satruday because it is the last party for Anna, my friend. She will come back at Prague in few days because she has finished her internship here. It is so sad because I really like her. But, anyway, let's enjoy. We are at Tramway court (the student accomodation) and then we will go to the Dicey's, a famous disco in Dublin.

I have lessons and I do a party at the week because it is holidays there.

    Days 66 to 69:

Anthony, my boyfriend is coming. Even if the weather is so bad, we go to Howth, visit the city center and go to pubs. I really enjoy this time because it is nice to see him again, after 1 month.

    Days 70 to 73:

As I told you before, I am in holidays so: let's do parties! We decide to do a party on thursday night, we go to the city center but everything is closed because of Good friday which is bank holidays in Ireland. So we come back at Tallaght and continue to enjoy ourselves at the student accomodation. And do it again the day later.

But, come on, I have to come back at home and do my suitcase because tomorrow I will be in SCOTLAAAAND !

  • Day 55:

I go to my office to teach French to mental disabilies persons. I have another 'student'. I like to do this work. I feel myself very useful and I can improve my English.

I go to a pre party in Tramway court, a student accomodation. We are a lot in a little flat and then, we would like to go in the city center to go in a disco but the disco is totally full because of Saint Patrick's day. So we come in another disco with some Erasmus. It is so niiiiice! We come back and decide to do an after party. We don't sleep and the night is never finished.

    Day 56:

    Week 9Week 9

It is Saint Patrick's day ! We come in the city center to see the parade but there are lots of people so we don't see a lot. I thought Saint Patrick's day will be wonderful but there is just a parade and then people drink everywhere so there are lots of drunk people who are crazy and fight them... I don't like this spirit so I decide to come back and sleeeeep because I am tired. But it was two intensive days that I really liked!

    Week 9

    Day 57:

Today I have no voice anymore... I go to school, study and sleep again.

    Day 58:

I go in the city center to see Clémentine, a French friend. We drink a Starbuck and speak a long time.

    Day 59:

    Week 9

The weather is perfect so it is the occasion to visit. I go to Howth, a harbour with beaches.

Then, I meet Clémentine and her family and we go to a pub to drink a cider and eat an hamburger. Sounds great !

    Week 9

I am sick, again. So I stay at home to rest at the beginning of the afternoon and then I meet Marlène to a park. Relax but nice!

  • There are so many differencies in the classroom in Irelande if you compair with France.

First of all students call lecturers by their first name whereas in France we call them by their last name. And lecturers/staff want that you call them by their first name. They ask you. At the beggining it was difficult because I always wanted to call them "Miss or Mister", but at the end it was okay.

However people here aren't punctual. It is horrible! Everybody is late. For example lecturers often begin their lesson 15-20 minutes late (in one hour of course) and they finish 5-10 minutes early. Students can come in the classroom when you would. If they arrive 5 minutes before the end of lesson it is not a problem and they don't appologize themselves.

Computers at school and during lessons are forbidden. But all students use their mobile phone for sending text, going on the Internet, and sometimes calling!

Students can leave classroom whenever they would without say something. It is very weird !

Irish students don't take any notes about the lesson. They just listen to the lecturer because all lessons are uploaded on Moodle (the network of the university). Everybody is quiet, no one speak with their neighbours.

By the way I have some stories to tell you!

I did a CA (continuous assessment) in Hospitality Management, but the lecturer lost my paper. I received an e-mail to tell me my mark which was O%. Very confused, I didn't understand and I decided to go to see my lecturer because it was not my fault. After a conversation, my lecturer decided to give me the mark of my second CA (80%) and she cancelled the 0%. It is a weird comportment but it is a good point for me.

Few days after, I received another e-mail from Elizabeth (Management's teacher) to tell me that my blog (a CA) didn't answer to the subject so she gave me 0% again. I was very hangry because I had already done the same suject in France, in Human Resources and I had a good mark. I asked her an appointment to explain the situation and try to change her opinion. I succeeded and she gave me the average mark (40%) because she told me that if I didn't write anything, I would have 0% as well. I was not happy but I respected her decision. But, at the end of semester, she sent us an email to resume all the mark that we had and for this blog I had 77%. So I really don't understand how teachers give the marks.

I had a report and an oral presentation in Management, in group of two. I was with Linda, an Irish student. On the one hand, it was a good experience to work with her to discover how Irish work, but on the other hand, it was horrible because they have a very different method to us. They begin to work just few days before the deadline. The rules to edit a report are not the same. Referencing and bibliography are very important. When you write something in your report, you have to give the reference in the text, just after the idea even if you reformulate it and then, at the end of the report.

Irish students aren't used to do presentation. It was so funny because they were shy and not comfortable. They just read the powerpoint which was very basic, they don't look at the audience and don't speak loud.
